Quinta do Pégo is without a doubt one of the most superb vineyards in the Valley of the Douro River. The scenery from the balcony, approximately 138 meters above the sea level, is spectacular. According to historical documents, production of wine can be dated back to 1548 and most reasonably to the Roman occupation. Today high-quality Port and reds are being sold around the world. It’s a “Must-See” and a “Must-Taste”.

The Douro River Valley is located in northern Portugal and it’s famous for the cultivation of olives, almonds and particularly grapes for making Port wine. But also first-class red wines have achieved high recognition around the world. The Douro region was established in 1756, being the third oldest protected wine region in the world after Tokaj-Hegyalja, in Hungary (1730) and Chianti, in Italy (1716).

Quinta do Pégo is located in the demarcated area of Douro River Valley or, more precisely, in the Cima Corgo zone, centered on the municipality of Pinhão. It is also located in the heart of the classified area as World Heritage by UNESCO. The grapes grown in this zone are considered of the highest quality, being used for Vintage and Late Bottled Vintage Ports.

Hotel Rural Quinta do Pégo is a modern four-star accommodation restored from the ground during 2007-2009. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool. Guests are offered a very friendly, warm, and relaxing stay never to be forgotten.

Today Quinta do Pégo owns around 33 hectares, whereas around 30 hectares are planted with wines. The soil is classified in the A-category, which is the absolute top. First production was the Vintage 2000 Port, produced from grapes of the original wine stocks – a terrific craftsmanship that has settled the course many years to come. Also Late Bottled Vintage, redwine, and olive oil can be purchased at Quinta do Pégo.
